At 52, Brendan’s health was slipping fast. This is the story of how simple habits, smart strength training and the right lifestyle coaching helped Brendan get his life back.
At 118kg, on blood pressure meds, battling sleep apnea, reflux and constant lower back pain, Brendan felt like everything was falling apart.
“I was living on caffeine to push through and alcohol to wind down. I wanted to be there for my wife and four kids, but I had nothing in the tank. One day I thought: What am I waiting for? If I don’t act now, it’s only going to get worse.”
In March 2025, with major hip surgery looming and a young family to look after Brendan made a few life-changing decisions:
Most importantly, Brendan is present and energised at home – no longer collapsing into afternoon naps or dragging himself through the day.
When Brendan went in for his Birmingham Hip Resurfacing surgery in August 2025, he went in feeling physically and mentally strong. This preparation reduced surgical risk and enabled a faster recovery pathway.
“Going into surgery fitter and leaner has been a gamechanger. I came out of surgery stronger, not weaker.”
Brendan’s goal is to hit 95kg and restore full strength and mobility. He is also looking forward to getting back into the activities he loves like boxing, kicking the footy with the kids, cricket, going on bike rides and playing golf.
At 53, Brendan wants his metabolic age and functional physique to be like a 40-year-old again. And he’s well on his way.
“Just f**ing do it. It’s a privilege to be fit and healthy and it’s also a privilege to have a fit, healthy family to enjoy life with. I’ve had enough of the ‘shit time’- now it’s MY TIME.”
