A welcoming gym with great people. Great advice and good approaches to training instead of following trends.

I've been attending Body Torque for some years. I had a reasonably major operation earlier this year and Alex and Phil have worked alongside me to get my physical confidence back and set programmes that are appropriate for my healing and avoiding exercises that are now no longer good for me. I'm in my middle 70's and I intend going to BT for as long as I am able. It's a great supportive community where everyone is felt welcome.

I had just turned 50 and no longer recognised the guy I saw in the mirror. It was me, but not the athlete I used to be. When had my health taken such a back seat to life rather than being a corner stone of it.? I made a decision and walked into a gym rather than a big, corporate fitness center I had been to in the past. Body Torque provided the platform, but it was the people and the personalised approach that set this place worlds apart from the other places I used to go to. Full body scans (boy did that cement the need for a change). All the data an OCD guy like me needed. Dietary plans. and so it began. A recent hip replacement. A very weak, failing knee after a historic ACL repair. Appalling physical flexibility. Terrible muscular asymmetry. Not the best platform to work from, but I knew how to manage injuries and listen to my body. Alex, Phil and Megan were so knowledgeable. They really were fantastic. Personalised programs. specific exercises. My weaknesses were focused on without doing more damage. The gym had every piece of equipment I needed and more. But the people.! There's the real difference. And not just the staff. It's like the place has a 'No Dickheads' policy. Smiles. Support. Friendship. It's more valuable that you think. And then the change started. Over the first 6 months I dropped 18kg and got all of my health indicators back where they should be. I've been a regular at BT now for more than 2 years and I'm in a place of maintenance and strength. The change to my health has been massive, but its had a huge affected so many other parts of my life. I now recognise the guy staring back at me in the mirror every morning. So would I recommend Body Torque.? Without a doubt. This has been one of the best decisions and investments I have ever made. A simple focus to maintain health and strength in your body and your life.

A boutique gym with a limited membership, and highly personal feel. Never crowded. All the gear you need and more. That's BT. Always supported. Full of friendly banter from good people and awesome staff that truly know everyone. That's BT. A place to exercise and feel comfortable, no matter your fitness level. A focus on staying fit and healthy at all stages of life. That's BT. Incredibly knowledgeable trainers. Customised programs. Adapting exercises for injury prevention, recovery, or simply to cater to my 'more mature' age group. That's BT. Every morning. A few evenings a week. Join the cardio or weights classes or do your own thing. That's BT. No-one posing in mirrors or sitting on equipment staring at their cellphones with headphones on. That's BT. If you're into the stats, then there are Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis (BIA) devices available to tailor fitness programs, track injury recovery, and monitor how your body changes over time. Dietary assistance for the total body approach. It's at BT. Fitness. Accountability. Nutrition. Mindset. Community. Recovery. It's all written in the window. That's BT. Plus a whole lot more. I couldn't recommend the people and the Gym more if I tried. Stop in to see for yourself. Body Torque Gym has changed my life.

Just over two years ago, my rather large shadow darkened the doors of Body Torque. I had recently had a heart attack, and I eventually gave in to my mate Toby goading me to join. I had already seen the transformation in Toby’s physical and mental wellbeing over the four years he had been going to the gym.My first thought was: what the hell are these people doing enjoying themselves? You’re in a gym! After a few months, I started to understand the foundations of this place: expert knowledge, real research, and a genuine grasp of what it means to be healthy. Alex and Phil’s ability to work with you so you keep improving is truly unique. The community is awesome. They hold you accountable and never judge. You meet all sorts — mad doctors, cunning council workers, dedicated detectives, and more. You want to see them because they make you want to be better. This is an easy place to belong, whether you are just starting out, an experienced campaigner, or a lapsed attendee. Every session brings laughter, fun, a bit of joviality, and a bloody good workout. Before you know it, you are getting better results as you continue the journey together. The only thing you stand to lose is some weight — I lost 30 kilograms — and you end up belonging to simply the best little gym in the world. Alex, Phil and Ruth rock. Thanks for having me.

I trained at Body Torque from november 2025 until I moved out of Newmarket in august 2026. A total gym beginner, Alex and Phil were extremely helpful and supportive at the beginning of my fitness journey. The gym is well equipped, clean and other members are supportive and friendly. I would 100% recommended it and would still be a member if I didn't move a bit too far.

I am aged 74 and live in Epsom, at the bottom of The Drive. I joined Body Torque in mid-2025 after a friend suggested it would be a great place to both socialise and build strength. We have a ladies’ night on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6:00pm to 7:00pm, and I can also attend at other times that suit me. Having previously had a hip replacement, I was feeling good in that respect, but my full-time role is quite demanding — involving long hours, customer visits, and working on the computer. While I was cardio fit, I struggled with osteoarthritis in my back and neck and wasn’t able to lift anything heavy. I was a little nervous at first, especially as it had been many years since I had last been to a gym. However, at my age I decided there was no time like the present. I cannot believe how different I now feel, both mentally and physically. After my husband passed away, I had to take on everything at home myself — the house, meals, and day-to-day responsibilities. Joining Body Torque has given me not only strength, but also a wonderful sense of connection. I now carpool with some of the ladies, and this gym truly is amazing. There is no judgement, and no need for fancy clothing — just a supportive environment. Alex, Phil, and Pam (the trainers) are incredible. I was given a personalised programme following an assessment, tailored specifically to what I could do. From there, I began lifting weights and using the equipment, and over the past year I have progressed to bench pressing 22kgs — something I never thought I would achieve. The trainers have been consistently supportive, offering great care and coaching. The other members have become friends, and the gym has developed into a wonderfully social community. We have our own WhatsApp group, share playlists, and even go out for dinners together. If you are looking to feel better physically and mentally, while also having fun and being part of a supportive community, I would highly recommend Body Torque.

I found Body Torque when I was looking for a strength training programme to help through menopause, and I’m so glad I did. Living in Mt Eden, the Newmarket location is really convenient, and makes it easy to stay consistent with training. Alex and the team genuinely understand the changes your body goes through at this stage of life. The coaching is excellent, the programming changes monthly, and I’ve never felt stronger. However what makes it really special is the atmosphere. It’s friendly, supportive, and completely free of ego. It really feels more like a community rather than a gym. I would highly recommend, especially for woman in perimenopause or menopause who want to start strength training with confidence.

Body Torque has genuinely changed my life. Alex is an exceptional person and trainer - knowledgeable, supportive, and invested in helping every client succeed. The community is just as amazing. I'm grateful to be apart of it, and would highly recommend Body Torque to anyone that's looking to improve their health and fitness.
